T-Mobile Expands 4G LTE Network, Now Reaches 157 Million Users

T-Mobile announced Wednesday that its 4G LTE network now reaches 157 million users across the United States.

T-Mobile launched its 4G LTE network in March and promised it would reach 100 million users by mid-year. The company has succeeded and now aims to reach 200 million users by the end of the year. T-Mobile's 4G LTE network is now live in 116 metro areas, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia and more.

Also on Wednesday, T-Mobile announced a new program called Jump to give customers on its network more freedom to upgrade their phones.

Although T-Mobile is still playing catch-up in certain markets when compared to AT&T and Verizon, the "un-carrier" is well ahead of Sprint, especially in key metro markets. T-Mobile also announced that it is already taking advantage of the Metro PCS acquisition and unifying its spectrum in markets such as Las Vegas.

As it happens, I have a T-Mobile 4G LTE review device right now and have been running tests in and around New York City. Although the coverage isn't as broad as Verizon or AT&T, it's in more areas than I expected -- and it's certainly better than what Sprint currently offers.

What do you think of T-Mobile's LTE offerings? Are you considering switching to the carrier now that it has faster transfer speeds? Let us know in the comments.
