A nor'easter caused problems for holiday travelers in the northeastern U.S. on Wednesday, the busy travel day before Thanksgiving.

3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

1. The storm is expected to impact the Northeast through Thursday; New York and New Jersey have declared a state of emergency.

2. Thousands of people are without power, from Virginia to Maine, after wet snow and high winds caused outages.

3. After thousands of delays and hundreds of cancelations Wednesday, air, road and rail travel was relatively calm Thursday.
