That ridiculous nickname has taken on an entirely new meaning.

U2 guitarist David Howell Evans -- a.k.a. The Edge -- fell off the edge of the stage on Thursday evening while performing an encore with the band at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.

The peninsula-shaped stage was, however, well lit with bright yellow lights around its borders.

Fortunately, the 53-year-old guitarist was OK; he walked away with minor injuries. The band shared a photo on its Instagram page that showed The Edge with a bruised arm.

"Didn't see the edge, I'm ok!!" he wrote.

The show marked the opening night of the band's world tour, Innocence + Experience.
