LOS ANGELES -- Not that we needed to be reminded to be afraid of flesh-eating zombies, but hey, any extra measure of caution in The Walking Dead world certainly can't hurt.

Robert Kirkman, a comic-book writer who created the graphic novel upon which the popular AMC show is based, tweeted on Friday the companion series' new title: Fear the Walking Dead.

IT'S OFFICIAL! The walking dead companion show on AMC is called FEAR THE WALKING DEAD! Expect more news very soon! #FearTheWalkingDead— Robert Kirkman (@RobertKirkman) March 27, 2015

AMC announced that it was picking up the show earlier this month. The first season's six episodes are set to debut in late summer, and will focus on a new set of characters and storylines in Los Angeles. Cliff Curtis (Missing), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) will star.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC.
