“People have seen plenty of limousines before, but never one quite like the Tundrasine,” said Steve Appelbaum, national engagement marketing manager of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.
And I'd wager there's a reason for that: This thing is downright ridiculous.
If the headline didn't give all the details away, this 7,963-pound monstrosity started life as a Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition 4×4 CrewMax pickup. Stretching the truck over 26 feet and adding plush seating for nine passengers, Toyota has transformed it into the "Tundrasine," a combination of limousine and Tundra.
Although it still has the same ride height and width, the wheel base has grown a massive 90.2 inches to total 19.6 feet (235.9 inches). Powered by a 5.7-liter V8 and built in San Antonio, Texas, the Tundrasine is clearly more American than its Japanese brand roots might suggest. Heck, it might now be the most American truck in the world.
Really, as far as I can tell, the only thing missing is a jacuzzi from the bed, which was a glaring omission on Toyota's part.
Regardless of its lacking in the hot-tub department, the Tundrasine is pretty special. If you want to see it in person, you'll have to head over to the 2015 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas this week. After that, where it will go is anyone's guess. I hope it will live on to attend many a NASCAR race, where it will likely be considered a masterpiece.
