@ThisIsVT will feature a different Vermonter at the helm every week. The idea is simple: turn the state's most socially savvy residents into digital ambassadors with the hope of bringing in tourists or those looking for a new home.

Real-time, real-life #Vermont scenes tweeted by Vermonters & #Vt visitors. A new author assumes this handle weekly. Kicks off 7/23.— THISISVT (@THISISVT) July 17, 2012

“Vermonters are unique, with equally unique reasons for why they live in, and love Vermont,” Steve Cook of Vermont's Department of Tourism and Marketing said in a statement. “This social media platform offers a tremendous opportunity for Vermonters to showcase their experiences and the Vermont Tourism team aims to share these stories with visitors or those considering relocating to our state.”

The first Vermonter will get the chance to take control of @ThisIsVT on July 23. There's an online application form that asks for applicants' personal information, Twitter handle and website. The Vermont Department of Tourism will review the submissions, then decide which lucky Vermonters will be given the keys to the account.

If you live in Vermont and think you've got the social chops to apply, you can do so right here.
