The tapping of paws and the clicking of shutters will soon fill the room at Madison Square Garden for the 140th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

This year, seven new dog breeds will appear: Bergamasco Shephard, Berger Picard, Boerboel, Cirneco dell'Etna, Lagotto Romagnolo, Miniature American Shepherd and Spanish Water. That's the most new breeds added in one year since 2000.

More than 3,000 dogs from across the U.S. typically enter the dog show to strut their tails in front of judges. The obedience and agility competition was recently opened to mixed breeds after backlash from animal rights advocates, who argued it fueled puppy mills and prioritized looks over love.

Take a look at all the new dog breeds that will be competing in the Westminster Dog Show from Feb. 15 to 16.
