Do you recognize the A-list leads of the 'A Star Is Born' remake?

You've definitely heard of them. You just might not recognize them.

Warner Bros. has lined up some bonafide A-list stars for its A Star Is Born remake.

The only problem is, you might not actually recognize them. At least not right away.

The photo above is our first look at the upcoming movie. Take a good hard look at it. Pore over its every detail. Zoom in if you have to.

Then make your best guess as to who, exactly, the people in it are. Here's a hint: you've definitely heard of both of them.

Figure it out?

If you guessed "Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga," ding ding ding.

But you probably didn't guess "Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga," because there's no reason you would have. This doesn't look anything like either of them.

Cooper's slimmed down a lot to look more "rock star" than "action star," and he's sporting a bushy beard that we're not entirely sure is real.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga -- a.k.a. Stefani Germanotta, the name she'll be using in the film's credits -- looks nothing like herself without the outrageous clothes or heavy makeup.

Mind you, this isn't a knock on either of them; we're very curious to see what comes of this film, especially since it marks Cooper's directorial debut. Germanotta, meanwhile, will be providing original music.

Cooper's A Star Is Born is the fourth version of this film in the past century, following the 1937 original, the 1954 remake starring Judy Garland and James Mason, and the 1976 remake starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

The finer details change from version to version, but the spine stays the same: an older, more established male star helps usher a younger female star into the spotlight, and the two strike up a passionate romance -- only to have their relationship threatened by their diverging careers.

In addition to Cooper and Germanotta, the new A Star Is Born also features Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Elliott. The project is shooting now in Southern California (including a stop at Coachella) for release on September 28, 2018.
