Amazon picked up pilots from Guillermo del Toro, Amy-Sherman Palladino
Amazon is upping its roster of A-list showrunners.
Mashable has confirmed that the e-commerce giant has picked up five new pilots, including shows from Pacific Rim's Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham; Gilmore Girls' Amy Sherman-Palladino; Bridge of Spies writer Matt Charman and director Kevin MacDonald; and producer Andrea Simon.
Del Toro and Beacham's project Carnival Row, co-produced with Legendary TV, is a about a city in the future -- occupied by humans and creatures -- that has a serial killer on the loose. It was originally a feature script that Beacham sold to New Line and Koppelson Entertainment 11 years ago as a spec.

Sherman-Palladino, who is in post production for her Netflix Gilmore Girls movies, will write and executive produce dramedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It follows a 1950s housewife.
Strange New Things, written by Charman, is an adaptation of Michel Faber’s book about an English pastor who journeys into space.
Also on deck: Tropicana, a pre-revolutionary war story set in Cuba and The Legend of Master Legend, based on Joshuah Bearman’s Rolling Stone article about real life superheros.
The news comes just weeks after Amazon announced its batch of new pilots, which includes two one-hour pilots and six kids shows.
