For those who wanted Nintendo's mobile forays to be more game and less social network, there's hope on the horizon.

Nintendo announced its next two mobile games would be based on the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing universes, and will come out this fall. Nintendo announced the two games at its quarterly financial briefing in Kyoto, Japan Wednesday.

According to a press release, both titles will be "pure game applications," and they will tie in closely with Nintendo's releases in that series. That likely includes Fire Emblem: Fates, released in February in America, and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, which came out in September. Both have sold well on the 3DS handheld; Happy Home Designer sold 3.04 million units worldwide, and Fates' two versions sold 1.84 million.

Nintendo's first app, Miitomo, has garnered 10 million users worldwide, Nintendo said. Nintendo's social network hit the top free app spot on both iOS and Android in the U.S. during its launch week on March 31.

It's not clear how many of those users have stuck around, though. According to App Annie data, Miitomo has dropped down about 500 places on the charts, and barely cracks the top 50 on the social network-specific charts. (For context, Google+'s app is ranked #37 on that chart.)

Nintendo mobile partner DeNA will report its fiscal quarterly results on May 11, so we may get more context on Miitomo's success there.
