The 'Animaniacs' are going on tour. Yes, really
Helloooooooooooooooooooooo, nurse!
The Animaniacs are back on Netflix -- and 2016 has another surprise in store for the beloved '90s cartoon series. Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell and Tress MacNeille -- the voices of Yakko, Wakko and Dot, respectively -- are taking the show's memorable musical numbers on tour.

It's not the first time Animaniacs has hit the road. The show's cast performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra in 2014. They'll be backed by an orchestra once again on the upcoming tour.
Details beyond those are scant. There aren't any tour dates published yet, and there's been no formal announcement of the news outside of a Paulsen interview in The New York Times.
The Yakko actor does confirm, however, that the 1993 song "Yakko's World" has been updated with a new verse. The original version from the show ran through (almost) every nation in the world at the time, to the tune of the "Mexican Hat Dance."
The problem is, the song doesn't account for the 1991 break-up of the Soviet Union -- and the world map has changed dramatically since then. (It also includes countries that no longer exist, like Czechoslovakia.) The re-written song will include all the "newly" shifted borders.
Animaniacs ran for five seasons, from 1993 to 1998, and was frequently hailed for mixing kid-friendly humor with jokes that spoke to an older audience. It was created by Tom Ruegger, who was also behind the very successful Tiny Toons Adventures, and produced by Steven Spielberg.
In the years since the show concluded, Animaniacs fervor has been kept alive by a committed cult fanbase. Although its largely topical/timely humor doesn't hold up as well as it once did -- the opening credits include a crack about former President Bill Clinton's saxophone skills -- much of the music is timeless.
Hopefully Warner Bros. announces tour dates and ticket availability soon.
