The ladies of Big Little Lies are still scheming about Season 2, and HBO ain't stopping them.

Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, the show's executive producers and stars, have been teasing a potential Season 2 on social media since the limited series ended, and HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed that the network is open to another installment.

The show is based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, who is currently exploring ideas for a potential second season, according to Bloys.

"What’s interesting is Liane is taking her crack at it," he told a group of reporters following his presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour this week. "I can’t think of a time when we went to the writer of the novel, the source material, to come up with, 'do you see ongoing stories with them?' So I’ll be very curious to see what she comes up with. Normally you would go to a TV writer and say hey what do you see?"

When asked whether they might proceed with another writer if Moriarty doesn't land on a workable idea, Bloys insisted, "this is the best way to see if there’s anything there, is to go to the source material."

Every episode of Season 1 was adapted by David E. Kelley and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, but Vallée has pushed back against the idea of a second outing, telling Vulture, "If we do a Season 2, we’ll break that beautiful thing and spoil it."

Bloys thinks he could be convinced, though. "I know he said that, but you know Reese and Nicole..." he laughed. "First we have to see the material and see if it’s worth everybody’s time, and if it is, [we'll have] the conversation about directors… I understand why Jean-Marc feels he did that; he’s doing another show for us, all eight episodes, so he probably feels tired of television, but Nicole and Reese can be very persuasive."
