We're all so lucky.

A Britney Spears biopic, Britney, is getting the Lifetime movie treatment.

The TV movie will detail "the tumultuous story of pop icon Britney Spears’ rise to fame, fall from grace and eventual triumphant resurrection." Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!) will star as Britney, per the Hollywood Reporter.

Heck effing yes.

A press release touts that the project, due in 2017, will not only hit Spears' professional moments (i.e. wearing a python), but also examine the good and bad points of her relationship with one Justin Timberlake, a move that no doubt thrills Mr. Timberlake. This TV movie will not, presumably, have music rights to their respective catalogs, which means fans will have to provide their own soundtrack of "Everytime" and "Cry Me A River" to accompany their viewing.

As anyone who has opened a tabloid this decade is aware, Spears has had real highs as well as some serious lows, which make her story perfect for Lifetime. Britney has a lot of material to choose from: her short-lived marriage to Kevin Federline, her even shorter-lived marriage to Jason Alexander, the crumbling of her parents' relationship and her 2007 nervous breakdown, not to mention the resulting conservatorship, which is oddly still in place to this day. (Spears enthusiasts should read this fascinating NY Times report to learn more about that.)

Spears, stronger than yesterday that she is, is on a bit of a positive publicity upswing lately: her Las Vegas show continues to bring in big bucks, and her ninth studio album, Glory, drops Friday. She'll also perform at the VMAs over the weekend and will appear on the popular "Carpool Karaoke" segment of James Corden's show tonight.
