Bryan Cranston to play Zordon in the new 'Power Rangers' movie

For Breaking Bad fans who are nostalgic for Power Rangers, this is a dream come true.

Bryan Cranston will play Zordon, the rangers' creator and mentor, in the upcoming Power Rangers movie, a reboot of the franchise due to be released in 2017.

For those not familiar with the series, Zordon mostly appears in a giant tube in the hit children's TV show. It isn't yet clear if Cranston will be mimicking the traditional tube appearance, unfortunately.

Zordon's nemesis, of course, is Rita Repulsa, who will be played by Elizabeth Banks.

It's not the first time Cranston has been involved with the Power Rangers series. Cranston was the voice of monsters Snizard and Twin Man in the very first season of the television show, where the Blue Power Ranger -- Billy Cranston -- is named after him.

"They actually named one of the Power Rangers after me. The Blue Power Ranger's last name is Cranston," Cranston told IGN.
