Nathan Fillion says his ousted 'Castle' co-star 'will be missed'
Nathan Fillion has broken his silence about the Castle departure that crushed fans' hearts.
One day after ABC announced that Stana Katic and Tamala Jones would not be returning for another season of Castle should the series get picked up for another season, Fillion posted a statement to Twitter wishing his now former co-star well.

"Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television," he wrote. "I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed."

The statement comes as fans still reel from the shock of learning that Katic -- one half of the show's central crime-fighting couple -- was let go, reportedly for budgetary reasons.
As it stands, if Castle is picked up for Season 9 -- and indications are it will be if the network is going through the trouble of announcing the departures -- the show would see itself go through a major overhaul.
In his statement, Fillion added that he hopes the show -- without mentioning any specifics on the retooling -- "continues on for years to come."
