Stana Katic won't be part of 'Castle' Season 9
If Castle gets another season, the show will be going forward without one of its stars.
ABC has confirmed a Deadline report that Stana Katic -- one half of the duo at the center of the ABC procedural -- will no longer be a part of the show if the network decides to renew it for a ninth season.

Katic's departure reportedly comes as ABC lightens the show's load to prepare for a renewal.
Fellow female longtime cast member Tamala Jones will also be exiting the series at the end of the current season.
ABC said in a statement:
"Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic's talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship. Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle."
The news no doubt comes as a shock to fans of the show, whose investment in the romantic relationship between the characters played by Katic and Nathan Fillion helped propel Castle though its run.
The cuts, Deadline reports, were made for budgetary reasons.
In the hours following the announcement, the cast and creator Andrew Marlowe, who stepped away from the show last year, chimed in with good wishes to their now former cast mates.

Jon Huertas, who plays Det. Esposito, also added that neither he nor Seamus Dever have been asked back for a ninth season, suggesting perhaps that more cuts are to come.
He also expressed regret that he had to find out about the change from online reports, as opposed to the network.
