An ode to the Instagram account that shames our terrible but lovable cats
This is Ode To..., a weekly column where we share the stuff we're really into in hopes that you'll be really into it, too.
Oh, cats.
Please don't come after me for saying this, but cats are terrible pets. They're mischievous monsters that will completely ignore the perfectly good toys you buy in favor of shredding every piece of furniture in your home. They'll have no interest in being pet at a reasonable hour, but will wake you up in the middle of the night for a chin scratch. They'll leave the worst gifts for you as a token of their affection -- dead mice, pieces of centipedes, and socks you thought you lost forever.
But despite how awful they can be, they're so freaking adorable.
Here's an ode to @cat_shaming, an Instagram account dedicated to showing the worst in our feline friends.
The account accepts DMs from exasperated pet owners and shames the worst submissions to its 129,000 followers.
Torsten, for example, struggles with the fact that modern televisions "aint build for having a relaxed and warm nap on anymore."
This demonic fellow enjoys a good salad, regardless of whose it is.
Little Pepper really, really wanted to play some games.
Really, though, you can't hate cats. They're so damn cute, even when they're acting horrible.
Look at them! Aren't they awful, but at the same time so, so good?
If you need a good laugh, read some cat shaming posts. You'll be grateful that even though your pet might be an eldritch furball, they're not as bad as the cats on @cat_shaming.
