The world's creepiest evil doll is back, and he's apparently taking other toys back with him to hell.

Well, that's what a new poster for the remake of horror classic Child's Play would have you believe, with a rather macabre reference to everyone's favourite sheriff, Woody from Toy Story.

Poking fun at the film's shared release date with Toy Story 4 on June 21, the subtly gruesome poster features what appears to be the sneaker and denim-clad leg of homicidal doll Chucky leaving a trail of blood behind him, and what's that?

The undeniable plaid-covered arm and cowboy hat of our hero, Woody, severed. So dark.

"There’s a new sheriff in town," reads the caption.

The film's evil chuckling protagonist will be voiced by none other than Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, who posted the most daddest of dad jokes on Twitter with the poster's release.

People were rattled on Twitter, hitting the Woody GIFs with gusto and getting deep on the potential realities of living toys.

Child's Play and Toy Story 4 both hit cinemas June 21. If there's any form of crossover within the films, consider toys cancelled forever.
