Like every day, today is one of those hashtag holidays. Specifically, it's #NationalPetDay, which means friends, acquaintances, and celebrities alike are posting pictures of their animal pals.

Marvel superstar and generally good dude Chris Evans tweeted a special video in honor of the day, showing the first time he ever met his dog, Dodger.

If you have something in your eye right now, that's OK, because we do too.

Evans makes no secret of the love he has for his dog: he regularly posts videos and pictures of Dodger and his Twitter header is, in fact, a picture of the pooch. This video shows us where this love all began, an especially heartwarming moment for both the dog and the actor.

Inspired by this touching rescue story, others shared photos of their own rescued pets -- dogs, cats, and even birds.

Thank you, Chris Evans, for blessing our Twitter feeds with this wholesome gem and showing us that love at first sight really does exist.
