Waiting to hear back from a job can take a long time, and sometimes, it can take a lifetime.

Take a look at these questions to find out if you're closer to death or closer to hearing back from that job you applied for.

Are you feeling unsettled in any way?

This could go both ways. Sometimes this feeling could mean anxiety, such as what you're feeling about your job. But other times it could mean you have an intuition that the end is near.

Have you been talking to family more often?

If you’ve been calling your family more often, you could either be keeping them up to date on your job situation, or you could be trying to have a few more meaningful moments with them before the end.

Have you reconnected with any old friends lately?

Have you recently gone through your friends who you haven’t spoken to in a while, or possibly reached out to those with whom you have reached a rough patch? If this is the case, your brain could be telling you that the end is coming no matter your employment status.

Have you been in and out of the hospital more frequently?

While the reasons can sometimes be unrelated, being in and out of the hospital in frequent succession could be a sign that regardless of the progress of the recruiter's decision, your body is beginning to shut down.

Have you said to anyone recently, “I am nearing the end of my life, and I have never heard back from that position I went for?”

If you’ve said this to those close to you, chances are you’re closer to death than employment.
