Bet that stung.

Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera was giving a live television interview when something unexpected happened. You know, the kind of thing no one prepares for when they're going over talking points and political messaging and where to get dinner after said interview.

He swallowed a bug.

It wasn't just any bug. It was a wasp. Yes, a wasp — an insect that has the ability to sting more than once.

The president played it off rather gracefully. After saying, “I ate it, I ate a wasp,” he joked about how it tasted like "pure protein," and even suggested a video of the ordeal be sent to CNN. His response video went viral over the weekend, amassing more than 233,000 views.

Consider one of our deepest fears abated: No worries if you ever find yourself swallowing a wasp. Apparently, it tastes like the perfect supplement to the protein needed in your diet. Maybe you can skip the post-interview dinner plans entirely.
