Georgia will lose some superpowers if the Governor signs a controversial "religious liberty" bill into law.

Marvel Studios and Disney said they will no longer shoot projects in the state if the legislation, which now awaits approval from Gov. Nathan Deal, passes. The bill would allow religious institutions and officials to deny performing same-sex marriage ceremonies, and allow organizations with a religious affiliation to refuse hiring potential employees with differing religious beliefs.

A Disney spokesperson shared this statement with Mashable:

"Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law."

The Georgia House of Representatives passed the bill last week. Though Gov. Deal says he will not sign a measure that "legalizes discrimination," he most recently said he is still considering the matter. A similar bill was passed in Indiana last year.

Georgia has been a popular spot for Marvel as of late. Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War were shot at Pinewood Studios just outside of Atlanta. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently shooting there as well.
