'Doctor Strange' clip: Benedict Cumberbatch tries out his spells in battle
LOS ANGELES -- Stephen Strange is learning on the job.
He's a quick study, sure, but he's just been scratching the surface of the Mystic Arts when, wouldn't you know it -- the Sanctum Sanctorum is under attack.
And that's really all you need to know about the clip below, debuting exclusively on Mashable. (We'd have a whole alternate universe's worth to say about Doctor Strange, but reviews are embargoed until early Sunday, so ... we'll sit on our hands until then. And it won't be easy.)
From director Scott Derrickson, whose background is mostly horror (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil), Doctor Strange introduces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange, a next-level experimental surgeon who loses the use of his hands in a car accident.
His quest to heal via the Mystic Arts plunges him -- and the entire MCU -- into realms no one had ever imagined even possible, and Benedict Cumberbatch is ... oops, that's right. That review embargo! Must ... not ... say ... more ...
... though we were allowed to tweet a little about it on Wednesday night.
Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4.
