Lin-Manuel Miranda, George Takei and more call out Trump on his 'Hamilton' tweets

Some called the tweets deliberate distraction from more pressing issues, including Trump's fraud case.

With Brandon Victor Dixon as its mouthpiece, the cast of Hamilton called on Mike Pence to "work on behalf of all" Americans when Pence attended --and was booed at -- a performance of the show Friday night.

On Saturday morning, President-elect Donald Trump demanded an apology and called their message "harassment." But much of Twitter doesn't seem to agree with him. Some even think he's creating a deliberate distraction.

Public figures are calling Trump out on his "thin skin," a sensitivity to criticism that they feel runs counter to the First Amendment. Other critics, including Chrissy Teigen, noticed Trump's call for the theater to be a "safe and special place," an ironic request considering conservatives' consistent opposition to political correctness, including the term "safe space."

Still others pointed out Trump's tweets as a potential way to shift discussion from his Trump University fraud case, which he settled for $25 million on Friday, and his controversial staff appointments.
