So much for a kinder, gentler Trump.

It seemed like only earlier today that President Donald Trump was in a mellower, more conciliatory tone, having wrapped up his historic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

Well, that's all over now because Trump is back to doing what Trump does best: lashing out at celebrities online, particularly those who criticized him.

Specifically, Trump hit back at actor Robert De Niro over his pretty succinct slam of Trump during Sunday night's Tony Awards. In retaliation, Trump not only pulled out the intelligence insult, but he also dusted off his favorite ploy: nicknames!

"Punch drunk," like boxers, because De Niro was famously in Raging Bull. Get it? Though "Punchy" falls short on the quality scale as far as Trump insults go. It's not "Lyin' Hillary" or "Crying Chuck."

I doubt De Niro is going to lose much sleep over this, though, and, just for fun, here's his hit on Trump.

How no one has looped that into one of those 10-hour videos of him just saying "Fuck Trump" over and over is beyond me.

UPDATE: June 13, 2018, 7:58 a.m. EDT For some reason, Trump deleted his original tweets but reposted them Wednesday morning. The new tweets have been inserted above.
