Did you know you shouldn't feed ducks bread? These people didn't.
If your fond childhood memories include tossing bread crusts to ducks in the park, congratulations: you f*cked up.
Yes, reader, it's true. Ducks are not supposed to eat bread. Not only is it low in nutritional value, but it can also pile up on the ground and become tainted, accelerating the spread of disease.
Now, this is not new information. But a lot of people understandably didn't know -- including a Twitter user named Dallas, who came across this sign from a local park.
"Thank you for not feeding [ducks] bread," the sign says.

According to the New York State Department of Conservation, it's best not to feed waterfowl at all. But if you absolutely must, the sign above recommends the following snacks:
Half cut seedless grapes
Cooked rice
Birdseed
Oats
Peas
Corn
Chopped lettuce
And please make sure the snacks don't land in water.
