Eye makeup looks inspired by famous paintings will blow your mind
LONDON -- Some works of art are so impressive, the very idea of trying to emulate them is intimidating.
But a London-based aspiring makeup artist has done a pretty incredible job of paying tribute to some of her favourite paintings.
Stefania Atupe created an eye makeup look inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's iconic Starry Night painting:
Compared with the original, Atupe's version is pretty impressive:
"I created the looks using Nyx colourful liners as well as some eye shadows I had lying around at home," Atupe told Mashable.
She says that the idea to recreate the paintings came to her after she'd been experimenting with peacock and zebra print eye makeup looks.
"When I posted the peacock design onto twitter, a girl actually messaged me and said that it reminded her of a Van Gogh piece, and since I absolutely love Van Gogh I decided I would try out Starry Night," she continued.
"I then just sat down and spent a good hour and a half just recreating the look, slowly outlining it and developing the colours! It took really long as there's so many different colours, and I really wanted to try get all the same colours and patterns as in the original painting," Atupe continued.
Atupe also created this interpretation of Hokusai's The Wave.
In another homage to Van Gogh, Atupe recreated the artist's Almond Blossom:
Who needs museums when you can recreate paintings on your eyelids?
