Dad probably regrets promising his daughter a puppy if she gets 100k retweets

It's a common story. Child asks parent for a puppy and parent agrees, but only under impossible terms.

High school senior Clara Foster's dad said she could have a new puppy. But only if she could get 100,000 retweets on Twitter. She didn't take it as a refusal, even though her dad probably meant it as one.

And as of now, Foster has surpassed 50,000. Which is only half of her goal but at least 49,000 more retweets than she was probably expecting.

Foster told The Daily Dot that her previous dog recently passed, but that, "my dad didn't want me to have the [new] dog because he and my mom didn't want to be 'tied down' when I leave for college." 

She found relatives who'd look after the puppy when she leaves next year, and her dad issued the challenge from there.

The tweet is about two weeks old, so there's a chance the momentum may die down before it reaches the goal. But retweets tend be exponential in number, and media coverage *cough* certainly doesn't hurt.

If Foster gets to learn the responsibilities that come with owning a puppy, Dad will have learned a valuable lesson about the Internet. Specifically, that there are a few more than 100,000 people on it.
