'Glitter tears' is the beauty trend for sad but sparkly people
We have officially reached peak glitter. We could just about handle the bizarre trend that was glitter roots. And, honestly, we were so here for glitter booty. But, there's something about the latest glitter trend, glitter tears, that feels like a sequin too far.
The new -- and utterly bizarre -- trend involves drawing pretend tears under your eyes using glitter glue.
The trend was first spotted on Burberry's AW16 runway show in early 2016. But now this runway trend appears to have made its way into the Instagram realm, as there are now over 11,000 posts under the #glittertears hashtag.
Some people have added sequins to the equation to make their tears extra sparkly.
Some have added multiple colours to the mix to create a rainbow tears effect.
And, some trendsetters have gone for matching glitter lips and glitter roots to accessorise their sparkly tears.
The Insider posted a video tutorial showing how to get this truly bizarre look.
