Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Kendrick Lamar to headline Global Citizen Festival

Major Lazer and Metallica headline will also headline the festival's fifth anniversary.

The Global Citizen Festival, a music festival that brings together artists and world leaders, has announced the lineup for its fifth anniversary.

Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer and Metallica will headline this year's festival on the Great Lawn at New York CIty's Central Park, with special guest performances by Chris Martin, Eddie Vedder, Usher, Ellie Goulding, Yandel, and Cat Stevens.

The event, which will take place Sept. 24, will be hosted by Chelsea Handler, Deborra-lee and Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Salma Hayek, and Seth Meyers.

Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans called the festival "an annual touch point to hold our world leaders to account on their commitments to solve the world's biggest problems."

Fans can "earn" tickets through the festivals Education Campaign by "completing actions to help promote and ensure that equitable and quality education is available to all, particularly refugee children and access for girls & women." Almost 50,000 free tickets will be given out.

Gucci and Chime for Change will partner with Global Citizen for the event.

"Through our long term partnership with Global Citizen we maintain our ongoing commitment to take action on behalf of girls' and women's empowerment, through one of today's fastest growing and most progressive movements," Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri said. "Achieving gender equality is not an option but a necessity, if the world is to successfully overcome the epidemic of extreme poverty.”

Global Citizen Festival will be simulcast live on MSNBC and YouTube will carry a livestream of the event.
