Good dog named Stormy gets medal for finishing half-marathon like humans

What a good boy.

Marathons require determination. Fitness. Focus.

Not everyone will readily associate with these attributes, but then there's this stray dog named Stormy who conquered the 21-kilometre (13 mile) Goldfields Pipeline half-marathon in Western Australia recently.

As reported by ABC News, not only did Stormy finish the race, but he did it in a time of two-and-a-half hours, matching the average time of the human competitors who completed the half-marathon.

And for that, Stormy received a well-deserved medal for his efforts.

"We thought he deserved a medal since he had done the whole thing," race organiser Grant Wholey told ABC.

He said the medal might also help the dog's owner find him. Stormy is believed to be from a nearby Indigenous community, where he shares time with different residents and families in the area.

But there are apparently a number of runners who will look to adopt Stormy, if he is not claimed from the pound within a week.

Stormy's marathon days are likely over, with organisers explaining that the race's finish line is in a pet-free area.

Still, what a good boy.
