That's how it's done folks.

While subtle metaphors, artful set design and love-filled lyrics are all valid forms of political commentary, there's no substitute for cutting right to the chase. And that's what A Tribe Called Quest and Anderson .Paak (with some help from Busta Rhymes and Consequence) just did at the Grammys.

And they did it powerfully.

Performing a medley of songs including "We the People," and "Award Tour," the group launched right into it, with Rhymes calling President Trump "Agent Orange" a bunch of times before the rapping even started.

He said: "I just want to thank President Agent Orange for perpetuating all the evil you've been perpetuating through the United States. I want to thank president Agent Orange for his unsuccessful attempt at the Muslim ban. We the people!"

Slamming the current government, the legendary hip hop group's set featured hijab-clad dancers bursting through a foam wall, followed by people from all walks of life who may be affected by the proposed border wall or immigration ban, including women of colour and First Nations people.

Calling out the underlying agenda of such policies, Q-Tip rapped: "All you Black folks, you must go/All you Mexicans, you must go/ And all you poor folks, you must go/ Muslims and gays, boy, we hate your ways/ So all you bad folks, you must go."

The diverse people then stood on stage, filed alongside the rappers, who all raised their right fist in unison with members of the audience and yelled "Resist! Resist! Resist!"

Wow. Just, wow. Listen, the Grammys 2017 had many highlights, but this was something else. It felt powerful. Historic, even. And Twitter knew it.

That's how you do it.
