Lin-Manuel Miranda wasn't the only star to depart Hamilton on July 9 -- Phillipa Soo, Ariana DeBose and Leslie Odom, Jr. took their final bows as well.

It was a busy night at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre, as these photos show. Crowds of fans and celebs alike turned out for one last chance to see the hit show's creator work his magic on stage.

Hamilton came to Broadway in Aug. 2015, seven months after its off-Broadway debut at The Public Theatre in New York. It has been a critical and commercial hit from the moment it arrived, garnering near-unanimous praise from critics and 11 Tony Awards.

The musical recounts the later life of founding father Alexander Hamilton, drawing heavily from a 2004 biography by Ron Chernow. Mostly free of dialogue, Hamilton's story unfolds primarily through song, with a particular focus on hip-hop/R&B and rock 'n' roll stylings.

Positive reviews resulted in sold-out shows even before the Hamilton moved to the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Even now, tickets are sold out well beyond Miranda's exit from the cast, and reseller listings often climb into the thousands of dollars for a single good seat.

Miranda is making moves toward film in his post-Hamilton life. He wrote the music for Walt Disney Animation's upcoming Nov. 2016 release Moana. He'll also star in the upcoming sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, directed by Rob Marshall.
