Australian muggles, squibs, witches and wizards alike should ready their galleons and raise a hefty tankard of Madam Rosmerta's famous mead.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is headed for Australia, opening in early 2019 at Melbourne's Princess Theatre. Performance dates and ticketing details are yet to be announced, so hold onto your sorting hats, Billywigs.

The announcement was made on Tuesday local time by producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender of Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.

“When we embarked on this journey, it was an objective to ensure we could get the production to Australia as soon as logistically possible," said Friedman and Callender in a statement.

"You can’t ever assume a new play is going to have a further life, but we knew that if Harry Potter and the Cursed Child did have a life beyond London and Broadway, that the next stop would be here."

Exclusive to Melbourne, the show will arrive in Australia after its highly regarded current run on London's West End and its anticipated Broadway stint in April 2018. Sydney's current mood: a Blast-Ended Skrewt on a good day.

"To secure a production of this calibre is a testament to Melbourne’s standing as an arts and cultural capital and leading global city for theatre," said Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews in a statement.

Since its world premiere in July 2016 at London's Palace Theatre, it's become synonymous with hard-to-get tickets like The Book of Mormon — and it's now the most-awarded production in the history of Britain’s Olivier Awards.

Accio plot summary! Staged in two parts meant to be seen in order on the same day, the play meets up with our mate Harry, as a seriously overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic. You'll meet his youngest son, Albus, who's struggling with the dark family legacy.

Be patient for dates and ticket details, and don't buy them at the Hog's Head from cloaked strangers taking dragon eggs as a trade.
