Throughout Hillary Clinton's historic presidential campaign, Katy Perry was there rallying for her. Now, Clinton is returning the favor.

At the UNICEF Snowflake gala at Cipriani Wall Street last night, Clinton made an impromptu appearance to introduce Perry, who was being honored with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.

“I have seen Katy's commitment to the causes she believes in firsthand,” Clinton said in her speech. “I've gotten to spend time with her and I know how deeply she cares about making our world a better place. She is serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them. We need champions like Katy now more than ever: her passion, her energy and, yes, her voice, louder than a lion.”

The pair greeted each other with a warm hug to the tune of Perry's "Unconditionally."

Along with Caryl Stern (President & CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF) and Pamela Fiori (Founding Co–Chairperson of the UNICEF Snowflake Project), Clinton presented the award to a beaming Perry.

Audience members tweeted their surprise to see Clinton on stage.

"Truly, my work has only just begun," Perry said in her acceptance speech. "And this award is a starting line, not a finish line. And it will be a constant reminder to get back in the field and shine my spotlight on where it matters most."

We're glad that even though the election is over, the partnership between these two incredible women is still going strong.
