Weird are the ways of love. New Delhi's Hindu College would know.

One of India's oldest educational institutions, it celebrates Valentine's Day with a bizarre ritual that includes male students worshiping an actress (her photo) to lose their virginity.

Before you go further, watch this video that captures 'The Virgin Tree' under which the prayer is performed. The tree is decorated with balloons and condoms, and the actress' photo is hung on its branches.

This year the Hindu College boys have voted Disha Patani as their Damdami Mai (a name they use for the popular actress of the year), The Times of India reported.

Patani has been one of the most talked-about actresses in Bollywood after her successful debut in the 2016 blockbuster MS Dhoni: The Untold Story where she essayed the role of Indian cricketer M.S. Dhoni's girlfriend. She also made her international debut opposite Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Yoga.

The actress, meanwhile, wished Happy Valentine's Day to her fans on Twitter.

"Like always, we will have the puja on the morning of Feb. 14. And a fresher will perform the puja [prayer] as he will be the pandit [priest] for that day," one of the hostelers reportedly said.

Patani apparently had to vote-fight with fellow Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri to become this year's Damdami Mai. It is believed that the students who participate in the puja 'will find the one' within six months, and lose their virginity within a year.

Earlier, popular Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra, who's currently ruling American television, have also been worshiped on Valentine's Day.

Whatever suits them... as they say faith can move mountains!
