Griffin's Bluetooth adapter is early bet on iPhone 7 removing headphone jack

Apple isn't letting any secrets slip before its Sept. 7 event, but a move by one major accessories maker hints that we may indeed see the end of the iPhone 7's headphone jack.

Although no official announcement has been made about Apple doing away with the headphone jack, Griffin has decided to begin offering an accessory designed to make the potential transition less painful.

The iTrip Clip is a headphone adapter that uses Bluetooth 4.1 to connect your smartphone to your headphone jack-requiring headphones.

Without mentioning the iPhone 7 directly, Griffin's website does a good job of teasing the product for those who have already bought into the rumors: "No headphone jack? No problem! Don’t worry if your favorite smartphone doesn’t have the headphone jack."

While some rumors and purported iPhone 7 case leaks hint that Apple might make users rely on the device's Lightning port for a new set of headphones that may debut next week, there has been no confirmation. Therefore, Griffin's Bluetooth move is a fairly safe one, no matter what does or doesn't happen with the jack.

And sure, if Apple does kill it off, it'll have its own solution readily available. But if you want to hold onto your old headphones, Griffin's device might turn out to be an affordable way to do it.

The iTrip Clip is compatible with Siri and Google Now (the device has a built-in microphone), works from up to 30 feet away, has a six-hour battery life and is currently only available as a pre-order item priced at $19.99 on Griffin's website.
