Issa Rae's bold and brazen humor took centerstage at the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday night.

The creator and star of HBO's Insecure hosted the event and, as always, kept things all the way real, taking a few verbal swings at Kanye West despite knowing that West's wife Kim Kardashian was in attendance.

During her opening monologue, Rae hilariously threw the rapper under the bus for his recent controversial Twitter commentary and his remarks to TMZ that he believes slavery is "a choice."

"I’m about as fashionable as Kanye is black – only when it's convenient," Rae said, according to USA Today reporter Maeve McDermott who was in attendance at the event. "That joke was my choice, just like slavery," Rae continued.

Kardashian, meanwhile, was in attendance at the award ceremony where she accepted the first CFDA Influencer Award. Video footage of her reaction to Rae's joke has yet to surface. (But if you've got it, cough it up!) People on Twitter, however, certainly had fun with the quip.

Though Kimye have yet to comment on Rae's jokes, West made it clear in recent tweets that he's "never been about beef." We'll assume it's all love from the rapper.
