J. K. Simmons, the beloved Oscar-winning actor, has unfortunately been eaten by an insanely jacked man who looks somewhat like him.

I mean, that's the only explanation for this.

Images of the actor looking seriously ripped beyond any reasonable level have made their way online, after being uploaded to Instagram by celebrity trainer Aaron Williamson.

Apparently, Simmons is getting swole to play Commissioner Gordon in the Justice League film. That's right, Commissioner Gordon. The older man who builds a nice big flashlight out of desperation to get a stronger man's help.

Clearly, Simmons is taking the character in a different direction.

Look, there's a level of vascularity and muscle tone that looks cool and impressive. And then there's a level that makes you worry, "Is this person getting enough calcium?"

J. K. Simmons is flirting with the latter level.

As a gentle reminder, here is what J. K. Simmons looked like a few years before molting and transforming into the beast you see above.

Mashable is dedicated to finding more images of ripped J. K. Simmons, and we have sent an intern to find him at the center of the labyrinth over which he now holds dominion.

We will update this story if the intern returns.
