Free Gilinsky: An adventure you'll never forget.

On Tuesday, best buddies Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky -- two Vine stars turned musicians -- found themselves in quite a predicament after Gilinsky was arrested for shoplifting a sweatshirt, which he claims was an accident.

The members of the pop duo Jack & Jack have a massive social following, so it's no surprise that when Johnson decided to capture Gilinsky's arrest on Snapchat, fans followed along as the saga unfolded live.

The scene began with the the 20-year-old Gilinsky being handcuffed in an airport as a result of "accidentally" walking out of a store while wearing a sweatshirt he forgot to pay for.

According to Johnson's narration, Gilinsky immediately realized his wrong and offered to pay for the sweatshirt, but the store manager insisted on calling the authorities. Though the Snap story began as a lighthearted joke, as the authorities carried out the arrest, a stressed out Johnson reassured fans that this was not a joke.

"So I did not expect these guys to actually take Gilinsky to jail," he admitted before resuming his Snapchat coverage at the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station, where Gilinsky had been taken following his arrest.

Johnson's "Free Gilinsky" chant outside the station inspired fellow Vine star Cameron Dallas to tweet out his support with the hashtag #FreeGilinsky. Fans of Jack & Jack immediately followed suit while Johnson listened to Jacob Sartorius' "Sweatshirt" and pleaded his friend's innocence.

After the eventful saga, Gilinsky was released a few hours later on $5,000 bail and a court date was set for Oct. 14, according to Los Angeles County's inmate search system.

The two Jacks celebrated Gilinsky's release by dancing in the car to Aretha Franklin's "Think."
