Jennifer Aniston admits she's secretly lurking on Instagram

She's not on social media, but that doesn't stop her from creeping.

Jennifer Aniston is a creeper. Her words, not mine.

InStyle has a delightful new profile of her, and the piece, written by Molly McNearney (Jimmy Kimmel's wife and co-head writer), tackles a myriad of topics. They touch on the constant tornado of rumors that surround her personal life (no, she's not heartbroken) and the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements (yes, she's experienced sexism in the industry).

But one of the most revealing tidbits is her discussion of social media platforms like Instagram — and how despite her negative feelings, she still finds ways to lurk like the rest of us.

"I will totally admit that I can dip into Instagram and sort of be a secret voyeur," she revealed, after confirming that she does not have any accounts of her own.

"I’m a creeper. There are times when I’ll look through and think, 'Oh my god, what a time suck!' I’ve been with people who spend maybe an hour figuring out this one post, and you’re like, 'That just took up an hour of your life, and it’s gone in 60 seconds,'" she said.

Still, she generally not in favor of social media, despite the fact that the world would be a much better place with regular photos of her dogs.

"It feels like we are losing connection. I think we’re losing conversation. It’s hard enough being a teenager and feeling like you fit in," she explained. "Now we’re actively creating an environment and a platform for you to tell someone, 'I like you' or 'I don’t like you.' That seems like an unhealthy formula for already-insecure adolescents. We’re pouring fuel on a fire."

Aniston went on about how her friends with pre-teens use their phones and social media like Snapchat in a way that is "just fueling narcissism."

"People are using filters and all sorts of tools to mask who they really are," she continued.
