Poe-Finn shippers, this could be your big moment.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams told reporters at the U.S.-Ireland Alliance Oscar Wilde Awards on Thursday that he would be very open to introducing gay characters into the franchise.

"When I talk about inclusivity it's not excluding gay characters, it's about inclusivity so of course," he said. "To me the fun of Star Wars is exploring the possibilities, so it seems insanely narrow minded to say that there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world."

Abrams was lauded for casting John Boyega as the first black Stromtrooper and casting a female lead with Daisy Ridley.

The director addressed diversifying the franchise, saying he tries to make the films "look the way the world looks."

(You know, if our world also included adorable droids and wise aliens.)

And while Poe Dameron and Finn may not be the couple Abrams had in mind, we're all for the idea.
