John Boyega might do a Marvel movie and we have some ideas

Star Wars actor John Boyega revealed at AwesomeCon that he's been in talks with another crucial part of the Disney family: Marvel Studios. Boyega teased that he spoke to the team about a potential role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which we're pretty sure would cause a singularity and swallow us all.

The actor discussed this and more at a panel about Pacific Rim: Uprising during the D.C. convention.

Nova

Nova a.k.a. the Human Rocket is a superhero with all the power of the Nova Corps after they've been destroyed. There's at least one version of him inheriting the title of Nova from his father and then going on a redemption arc...which reminds us of someone else we know...

Black Panther needs a new villain

Boyega is a prime example of the kind of black excellence filling out the Black Panther cast. With Killmonger out of the picture, some have speculated T'Challa's next nemesis will be Icon, a Nigerian villain from the comics.

Brother Voodoo

Who has time to be thinking about a Doctor Strange sequel with Infinity War just weeks away and Black Panther still so fresh? Probably some bigwigs at Marvel Studios who might dig up Jericho Drumm, the sorcerer whose brother was killed by Kaecilius and therefore has a built-in revenge kick ripe for mining. The Strange series has had its whitewashing criticism and should be wary of cultural appropriation, but in the right hands – including Boyega's – this character could emerge and even take over for Strange one day.

Reboot a retiring hero

It's common knowledge by now that the next two Avengers movies mark the end of contracts held by Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey, Jr. While we fully expect to see these characters perish heroically in battle, Marvel heroes are constantly rebooted in the comics. Maybe someone finally nails Dr. Erskine's formula and Boyega is the new Captain America. Maybe he's an industrious young man who builds his own arc reactor. This Pacific Rim: Uprising review jokes about him as the third Thor, and honestly, we're here for it!

Whatever decision Disney comes to, we're keeping our fingers crossed. There are so many excellent possibilities here that are too good to mess up.

Besides, he's going to get busy with Star Wars: Episode IX. Maybe later.
