John Legend is proud of Chrissy Teigen's 'powerful' essay on her struggle with postpartum depression

This constant support is why these two will forever be our #CoupleGoals.

Earlier this month, supermodel and our aspirational best friend Chrissy Teigen penned a beautifully honest essay about her struggle with postpartum depression. Now, her husband John Legend is speaking out about being there for his wife through the difficult time.

“For me as a husband, it was my job to do the best I could to support her and understand what she was going through and do whatever I could do to help her, the Grammy winner told People. "I feel like that’s the least I could do."

“[As a man] you don’t know internally what it feels like. You should read about it and understand what it is and really just be there to help,” he continued.

In her original essay, Teigen describes her husband standing by her side through her lowest moments - including when she couldn't get off the couch for days.

“John has been incredible over the last nine months,” she wrote. “He wants me to be happy, silly and energetic again, but he’s not making me feel bad when I’m not in that place.”

“You need to be present and you need to be compassionate," Legend told People, "We’re all learning and trying to figure it out as we go. At least do that and try to figure it out together.”

Legend went on to say how proud he was of his wife for sharing her story and speaking out about a struggle that, according to the Center For Disease Control, one in nine women will experience.

“I’m glad she wrote about it,” he explained. “I think it was powerful for her to let a lot of women know they’re not alone, and no matter how much money you have or fame, anybody can feel that."

"It’s hard for anybody no matter how successful you are and how many resources you have," he continued.

It's impossible not to love these two.
