According to reports, Fernández was dating Carla Mendoza. The couple had been together since at least September 2015, when Fernández was photographed embracing Mendoza after he became the first pitcher in the modern era to win his first 17 career home decisions (the designation given to the starting pitcher whose team wins), the Associated Press reported.
