Justin Trudeau and his sultry gaze are on the cover of 'Rolling Stone'

What kind of socks do you think he's wearing?

Canadian prime minister and sock fan Justin Trudeau is on the cover of this month's Rolling Stone. The feature within discusses his relationship with Trump (of course), his "sunny ways" approach to governing (complete with Louis XIV joke), and what he likes to do instead of golf (snowboard).

Oh, and the cover says "Why can't he be our president?"

Behold:

Reactions to the cover are mixed on Twitter. Trudeau has a sizable fan club in the U.S., which is unsurprising. He reminds a lot of people — including Rolling Stone's Stephen Rodrick — of Barack Obama.

Then, of course, there's the current political climate in America (bad). In the Trump era, the grass is almost certainly greener in Canada. So a lot of people were pleased to see their Star Wars-loving dream leader on their newsstands and in their tabs.

Then, of course, there's that sultry gaze. What kind of socks do you think he's wearing in this photo? Cat socks? Weed socks? "I heart Planned Parenthood" socks? Damn.

But others found the whole rock star treatment more cringe-y than compelling. Trudeau's staunch support of the Keystone Pipeline, for example, renders him considerably less dreamy. Then there's the transparent "PR tour" vibe of his media appearances — including, for many, this one.

Still — we gotta be honest — the profile's worth a read for the charity boxing match story alone. Just willfully forget that Trudeau has a tattoo of the planet Earth, please.
