Katy Perry will host the MTV VMAs sure OK
Katy Perry is ready for take-off.
The pop singer will host this year's MTV Video Music Awards in a move that honestly seems somewhat beneath her after years of massive success, but she's trying to recapture her sizzle.
Perry announced her hosting duties with a space-themed video on Twitter Thursday.

Perry will also perform at the show as she prepares for her world tour for her newest album, Witness.
Earlier this week nominees were announced and Perry has noms in five categories: Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for “Chained to the Rhythm,” Best Art Direction for “Bon Appetit,” and Best Collaboration for Calvin Harris’ “Feels” featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry and Big Sean.
Kendrick Lamar racked up eight nominations.
The MTV VMAs will air Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. EDT.
