INDIO, California -- When Kesha surprised everyone during Zedd's set Saturday night at Coachella, it was much more than just a performance.

Singing "True Colors" -- a song about staying true to yourself with lyrics like "I'll show you my, my true colors/ No, no, no, no I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes" -- she was making a statement: No matter what the outcome of her lawsuit with Dr. Luke, she won't apologize.

She didn't speak to the crowd, but really, she didn't have to.

Two weeks ago, Kesha posted a message on Instagram saying that she refused to take back her allegations against Dr. Luke, whom she has accused of rape as well as verbal and emotional abuse over their decade-long working relationship. (Lawyers for the producer have denied all the allegations.)

"So. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped," she wrote. "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again."

Kesha's emotional performance was one of the many, many, many high-profile surprise appearances that took place during weekend one of Coachella. Earlier in the day, Nas performed with Run the Jewels, while Kanye West turned up during A$AP Rocky's set Friday night.
