A very special rescue cat named Kevin has defied the odds after being diagnosed with a condition called hydrocephalus and given six months to live.

Now four years old, the adorable Russian Blue is capturing our hearts with his extreme perseverance, peppy personality, and the permanently surprised look on his face.

Mashable spoke with Kevin's owner, Tailah, to learn more about his life and journey to find a loving home.

"Kevin was surrendered to my clinic when he was a tiny four-week-old kitten after he was found alone in a carpark," Tailah said. "It was obvious straight away that Kevin had medical concerns, so he had a full physical assessment and was diagnosed with hydrocephalus."

Hydrocephalus essentially means "fluid on the brain," and Taliah told us that Kevin's sight, hearing, balance, coordination and reflexes are all impaired. Luckily, Kevin is not fully blind or deaf, but his face gives the appearance that he is always surprised.

Despite the condition, Taliah says, "he has the best little personality."

"He is guaranteed to make you laugh every day," she said. "His day-to-day activities consist of sitting in the pot plants in the garden, sleeping with his face in shoes and biting people's feet."

"He is such a little love bug and a scratch between the ears is his favorite," she said.

Taliah hopes Kevin's story can prove to people that every little life deserves a chance.

"I was well educated from my colleagues on Kevin's condition and fully understood to expect the worst," she said. "But given how happy and content he was, I wanted to give him a chance."
