In news that will warm you to your icy core, this 91-year-old hospice patient has spent the past 15 years knitting hats for the homeless.
WXMI reports that Morrie Boogart of Grandville, Michigan -- who suffers from skin cancer and a growth on his kidney -- spends his days knitting in his bed at a local hospice center. Since picking up the craft, he says he's knitted well over 8,000 caps.
Boogart says it takes him about two days to finish a hat using his knitting loom and the pile of yarn he keeps by his bed. In October, his hats will be ready for shelter delivery.
